   1919

May 1st – Bernard Klein starts business selling paper bags on a pushcart at the suggestion of his wife Gussie.


   1924

Bernard’s son Marshall Klein accidentally burns down building at Prospect St. in Yonkers, NY while playing. Company moves to Stanley Avenue in Yonkers, NY.


   1925

Bernard Klein decides to close business for 1 month to visit relatives in Europe.


   1925

Bernard Klein continually turns down bootleggers asking him to run liquor during Prohibition.


   1932

Company moves to space at 47 Clinton St. in Yonkers, NY to do business.


   1936

Company moves into larger building at 38 Clinton St. in Yonkers, NY to do business.


   1940

Marshall Klein enters the Army (stationed in the South Pacific).


   1941

Bernard Klein Inc. loses employees to the draft for World War II.


   1944

Sam Klein (son of Bernard) enters the Army (stationed in China-Burma-India).


   1944

While home on furlough, Sam Klein delivers for the first time for his father. However, he burns out the engine on his way to Peekskill, NY by forgetting to fill the truck up with oil.


   1945

Crown Products starts selling paper bags to grocery stores.


   1948

Bernard’s son-in-law Irving Fox (married to daughter Lillian) comes to work for the company.


   1949

March 1st – Bernard Klein Inc. starts doing business as Crown Paper. Marshall Klein takes over as President.


   1954

Company moves to 217 Riverdale Ave in Yonkers, NY because the City of Yonkers decides to use the property as the site for an Urban Development area.


   1955

Started selling electrical tape thru subsidiary company – Berkley Insulation Company.


   1960

Addition put on Riverdale Avenue building. Sam Klein acts as the general contractor.


   1977

July 1st – Bernard Klein Inc. starts doing business as Crown Products.


   1982

May 1st – Company moves to 450 Nepperhan Avenue in Yonkers, NY


   1988

Marshall Klein sells company to his brother Sam Klein.


   1989

Sam takes over as President of Crown Products.


   1992

Crown Products began to distribute Sealed Air products.


   1994

Crown Products celebrate its 75th year of doing business.


   1995

Crown Products began to distribute Sigma Stretch Film.


   1998

Crown Products begins to distribute for Intertape Polymer Group.


   1999

Peter Mollo takes over as President of Crown Products.


   1999

Crown Products starts recycling business for people with disabilities and gets grant from the government. 7, 000 square feet of existing warehouse space is donated for this cause.


   2000

Howard Rosenzweig and Richard Saltzman team up with Peter Mollo to form Crown Janitorial Products.


   2000

Same year Crown Janitorial Products private label of cleaners, aerosols, and disinfectants is introduced.


   2001

Began distributing private label aerosols from Claire. Crown Janitorial started doing business with Spartan Chemicals & Bay West.


   2002

Crown Janitorial Products expands office and warehouse space to its current 50,000 square feet, shared with its sister company Crown Products.


   2003

Crown Janitorial Products launches its BULL BAG line of plastic trash liners and compactor tubing. The Bull Bags unique blend of recycled resin and proprietary material and blends quickly makes Crown Janitorial a leader in the New York City market place!


   2007

Crown Janitorial Products introduces its GOOD EARTH line of environmentally friendly and EPA approved cleaning products.


   2008

Equipped all Crown Products trucks with GPS & cell phones to help our drivers continue to make fast deliveries. Tracking information helps our Customer Service Department continue to serve our customers more efficiently.


   2009

Crown Products begins to use UPS real-time tracking and develops a third party LTL freight relationship in order to solidify and improve our switch to “next day” delivery schedules, which also expanded our area of service. Crown Janitorial President Howard Rosenzweig receives award from The Institutes of Applied Human Dynamics for his work in the community.


   2010

Crown Products signs contract to distribute Philips light bulbs. Crown Products receives a grant from the government to conduct value stream mapping to help our business run more efficiently.
